What is Lymphatic Massage?

Sometimes called lymphatic drainage massage, lymphatic massage is excellent encouraging the movement of lymphatic fluid from your arms and legs. It is a gentle massage stroking movement towards the heart to allow for the excess fluid to drain. 

 

The lymphatic fluid system helps remove waste and toxins from the body. Some health conditions’ cause this fluid to build up. The lymphatic drainage massage can benefit people who have had surgery to remove lymph nodes and are left with lymphedema. This happens in patients who have had cancer or other surgeries involving the lymphatic system. It is also helpful for patients who have Infections, fibromyalgia and other autoimmune diseases.

Lymphatic massage not only improves circulation it also reduces swelling of the lymph system.  Many  times used as part of a formal treatment plan for people suffering from lymphoedema. Traditional massage is excellent for muscle relaxation but does not focus on swelling reduction.
