Deep Tissue Massage

What is a deep tissue massage?

This massage technique uses slower, deeper strokes to target the deeper, denser layers of muscle and connective tissue. It's commonly used to help with muscle damage from injuries or athletes.

Does deep tissue massage hurt?

Deep tissue massage may sound painful but it actually provides much-needed relief from tight and spasmed muscles. The pressure of the massage is firm and specific to trigger points and muscle attachments.  These spots are painful to start with when you have a problem so initially, the pressure may feel a sharper pain but as the muscle loosens and the toxins in the trigger points release the pain diminishes.  After a deep tissue massage, you may feel a little sore and you will know it is working!  Be sure to drink lots of water to flush metabolic waste and toxins from the muscles.
